Churches Together in Callington

The Mustard Seed is happy to be part of Churches Together in Callington which represents a united witness and fellowship for the Christian believers in Callington and district — regardless of denomination.

The four churches in Callington — St. Mary's, the Methodist, the Roman Catholic and The Mustard Seed — all pool together to organise special events each year.

During 2008 a variety of events were conducted: Easter featured a March of Witness a Sunrise Service and a new Easter Sunday Evening Service, while a Pentecost joint service was held in the Town Hall. The Town Harvest Festival was held at Dupath Farm which was followed by a Ploughman's lunch

The summer also saw a successful joint Holiday Club staffed by volunteers from the churches.

St. Mary's has had a Light Party for several years but last year CTIC organised a joint Light Party at the Mustard Seed that was held as an alternative to Hallowe'en on October 31. The Christmas season opened with a thought-provoking Advent Praise held at the Roman Catholic Church.

The next CTIC event is the Lent weekly series of studies which begins at the Callington Methodist Church at 7.30pm on March 3 2009. The series will culminate in the celebration of the Passover during Passion Week.

Calendar for 2009

Basis of CTIC Constitution

Churches Together in Callington unite in pilgrimage those churches in Callington which, acknowledging God's revelation in Christ, confess the Lord Jesus Christ as God and Saviour, according to the Scriptures , and in obedience to God's will and in the power of the Holy Spirit commit themselves:

  • To seek a deepening of their communion with Christ and with one another in Church which is his body, and...
  • To fulfil their mission to proclaim the Gospel by common witness and service in the world to the glory of the one God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
